Well, I just did not want to accept it, literally in denial, heck, I was one of the "few" web application developers that were still typing "Zope2 Developer" in monster, I even got my current job by searching in it..
I am really sad to say that my Zope2 days are over, I honestly feel bad that Digital Creations had stopped promoting it and switched to this over-engineering monstrosity called Zope3. Maybe I am too old to start drinking the new kool-aid, one thing is for sure: Python is still the kick-ass programming language ever created, and I am sticking to it..
So the natural transition for a python web developer would be to look into TurboGears, maybe Django, maybe get a brush of Ruby on Rails, and maybe, just "maybe", look at the Python Wiki searching for the missing treasure.. and yep, found it...
I found web2py [link], and in literally one week I was finishing writing this very blog (website) using nothing but pure good ol' python, what a breath of fresh air that was.
As with many of the new frameworks, web2py follows the MVC pattern design, you create your data access objects (database definitions, etc), then create the "server" or underlying back-end code for your app, and then create the user interface for all your your logic, Model-View-Controller at its best, though its implementation might differ a bit from other MVC frameworks out there.
I'd suggest you take a quick peek at the web2py page, specially take a look at the "comparison" section, so you'll see what lies ahead of you should you decide to take the red pill and learn this marvellous framework, highly recommended from someone involving, almost 100% in python programming for the past 10 years.

Hey Julio, just found your site, and added a link back :-). I'll check out web2py. For my current development projects I'm pretty much stuck doing php--I love it, I hate it. I'd love an RSS feed for your site to add to my reader, but I'll keep checking back.

Steve, always nice to have you here, an honor indeed,
Yeah, Remember those days @ codeit?, where the sky was the limit :) - I regularly visit your site I kinda know what you're up to usually, I wish I had more time to continue the Python development, but the hand that feed my table is a windows shop and they are .Net diehards, oh well, I'll keep buying $5.00 worth of mega-millions each month in the meantime :) JulioF Agregar Comentario | Regresar a la Página Inicial |
